Role overview:
A leading drainage services & civil engineering company based in Atherstone, Warwickshire, The Midlands require an experienced HSQE (Health, Safety, Quality & Environmental) Manager.

This is predominantly an office-based role; however, a company vehicle is provided to enable you to visit active nationwide sites as and when required.

Reporting to the Managing Director, Head of Drainage Operations and Head of Civils, the HSQE Manger is responsible for providing an effective HSQE support service to ensure the company meets all its business objectives and continually promotes a positive health and safety culture while complying with all applicable legal requirements.

HSQE Manager Role objectives

-Project manage company safety, environmental and quality programme.
-Provide professional support and advice to the senior management team and staff on occupational safety, health, environmental and quality matters.
-Provide an assurance and audit role in the company.
-Assist staff and contractors in respect of compliance with relevant legislation, client standards and contractual arrangement
-Maintenance and on-going development of the companies HSEQ system, ensuring documentation is concise, meets applicable legislative and other requirements and is kept up to date.
-Drive the philosophy of safety ownership throughout all levels of the organisation.
-Engage staff and managers in all departments to maximise improvements in safety performance.
-Provide support in developing, reviewing and monitoring of the HSEQ Plan and objectives and targets.
-Provide positive leadership and promote the adoption of best practice.
-Responsible for developing, promoting and monitoring the HSEQ culture.
-Lead and direct functional management for any HSEQ personnel under your control.
-Identify areas of risk and develop measures to reduce and control.
-Identify initiatives to improve performance and assist in addressing areas of poor performance.
-Produce HSEQ performance reports as required.
-Responsible for reviewing accident and incident HSEQ reports and investigation.
-Complete site audits, toolbox talks, kit inspections and inventories to vehicles
-Risk Assessment training
-Assist with company HSQE newsletters, bulletins and tenders.
-Review subcontractor evaluation forms and supporting evidence.

About you
The ideal applicant must have extensive drainage industry and civil engineering knowledge as well as be conscientious, well presented, motivated and be able to work on their own initiative. A natural organiser with man-management skills, the right candidate will be a team player and have excellent interpersonal skills as well as organisational skills. Being competent at problem solving, planning and decision making is critical to this position.

Qualifications
-At least 3-5 years’ experience in a similar role
-Health and Safety qualification (NEBOSH Certificate or equivalent)
-ISO14001 Auditor Certification (internal)
-ISO 45001 Auditor Certification (internal)
-Handling of H&S Investigations
-Experience of formulating, implementing and revising HS & E policies and procedures.
-Knowledge of the drainage industry and terminology
-Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills.
-Excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Access)
-A full driving license is essential.

Preferred
-Higher level Health and Safety qualification (NEBOSH diploma or equivalent)
-Environmental qualification such as IEMA Management Certificate.
– COSHH Trained (preferred)
